Thought
process and rationale
My thought was to think about the children in my head
start class. I teach four year olds and one of the themes we will be doing is
community helpers. I thought this is a great unit of study because the children
really enjoy it. The first thing to do is come up with lesson plans that
involve the individualization of each child and provide activities to go with
the lesson for the week. With the
individualization come the learning outcomes and objectives. “An instructional
objective should be a clear and concise statement of the skill or skills that
your students will be expected to perform after a unit of instruction”, (Kubiszyn
& Borich, 2010, pg. 110).
After the learning objectives, a test item follows. These
items should and could be tested from the objectives. There are several formats
to use, but teachers should use what best fits their students on their
particular grade level. Essay questions require that the student supply rather
than select a response (Kubiszyn & Borich, 2010). Essay questions allows to
student to use their thinking skills and apply all information learn to the
problem.
My rationale is to make sure that all assessments and
outcome are appropriate for four and five year olds. To make sure that all
students are able to accomplish through the outcomes that are chosen. Every child
learns different and on their own level. Therefore, every student should leave
class learning something.
